Deer Antler
Deer shed their antlers every year between January and April, after mating season. This is a completely natural process that happens every year for as long as the buck lives, and is a painless process for the deer. This makes deer antler a great natural, renewable material to make things from.
The shaving kit to the left is the first attempt I’ve made at making this particular item. Deer antler is essentially an outgrowth of bone, and each piece will have a unique grain. Occasionally there will be voids in the material, which are filled with acrylic glue to maintain integrity.
